Now in its 30th year, the Cork Jazz Festival is one of the most anticipated events in the Irish festival calendar. Every year, hoards of people flock to the city of Cork to experience the annual event which over the years has played host to some of the most famous jazz musicians such as Ella Fitzgerald, Cleo Laine, Sonny Rollins and Oscar Peterson.
This year, the festival promises to be as entertaining as ever. Traditionally held during the October bank holiday weekend, Cork city becomes electrified with soulful and infectious melodies floating out of pubs and venues across the entire city. During the day, soak up the atmosphere as you wander through the city to the beat of the street musicians. At night, prepare to face the tough decision of which performance to enjoy.
Although jazz performances are delivered by over 1000 musicians in 80 venues citywide, the base venues for jazz concerts are:
